How to Order on Jumia – Jumia is a big online shopping platform that you can buy so many items from. The first time that I wanted to place an order on Jumia, I was a little bit confused on how to go about it. After several times shopping on this platform I realized that it is a straightforward and easy website that you can shop on conveniently. One of the things that you need to know about this online marketplace place is that there are sellers who have registered to sell their products in this platform as well as some products sold by Jumia directly.
Like I always advice, before placing an order on Jumia website or App store, check the product and its reviews very well. Check on the details of the seller, know their refund policy and mode of delivery and place your order if you are satisfied with your enquires.
How to Order on Jumia and Get it Delivered at Your Doorstep
1. Sign Up for an Account
There is a need for you to have a registered account with Jumia before placing your orders. The details you provide in your account will be used to send you information regarding your order. It will also help in requesting for cancellation of your orders if you are no longer interested. It will equally be used to contact you during delivery.
The information required in signing up for an account on Jumia website are;
- Your Name (s)
- Your Phone Number
- Your Delivery Address including Region and city
- Gender
- Date of birth
- E-mail Address
When you visit your Jumia account after creating it, you will be able to see information like;
- Your Orders
- Inbox
- Pending Reviews
- Voucher
- Saved Items
- Recently Viewed
- Account Details
2. Placing an Order
When you log into your created Jumia Account, go to categories of the products that you want to order from. Click on the product that you want to order. If you want more than 1 quantity of such a product, you will see a plus (+) sign under the product, add as many of the same product as you wish in you cart. When you want to decrease the number, click on the minus (-) sign. You will equally see the number of the products you have added at the cart symbol on the top right hand side of the ordering page.
3. Confirm Your Order
When you click on the checkout under the product you have selected the order, you will be directed to a page where you will see your order summary. There, you will see, the number of items that you have ordered, delivery fees, a space for you to apply the Jumia voucher code if you have one, payment method, customer address and delivery details.
Things you can do at this stage;
Change Payment Method; Know that Jumia Offers two methods for the payment of orders. This can either be pay on delivery or pay before delivery. This depends on the product or the seller and you can equally choose the one that you prefer when the two options are available. The payment options available are Jumiapay, Cash payments, Local Mastercard, Verve Card or Visa Card.
Change your Delivery Address – If you don’t want to make use of the address in your Jumia account that you have created previously which will be extracted at this stage, you can change it here.
Change Delivery Details – If there are two methods of delivery available, you can change it to the one you desire at this stage. You can choose between door delivery or pickup station. Check the condition (s) attached to each before making your selection.
Modify your cart – You may wish to make some adjustments which can be in the number of goods you have ordered, you can do it here.
After completing all these steps, you will see where you will click to complete your order at the bottom of the page. If your order was successfully placed, you will see a notification that reads ” Thank You for Placing an Order on Jumia” with your order number. You can click on the see order details at the bottom of the page to check your order details.
4. Delivery and Shipping
If you will collect your order from the pickup station, not that delivery time starts from the day you placed your order to the day your order arrives at the pickup station. When you get a notification on the arrival of your order, you need to retrieve it within 5 days. If the order is not cancelled, it will be cancelled automatically.
If your order is door delivery, know that your delivery time starts from the day any of Jumia associates makes a first attempt to deliver to you. Delivery will be attempted 2 times over 5 days ( 7 a.m to 5.30pm) after which the order will be cancelled if you are unreachable or unable to receive the order.
Pay on Delivery on Jumia
There are at times, you may wish to pay on delivery for your item to order on Jumia, here are the things that you need to know;
- If the item that you want to order for is going to be shipped from Overseas, a digital product or insurance item, this option may not be able.
- If your cart is below the minimum or above the maximum, it can affect the availability of payment on delivery option.
- If your address is in a distant region or you have selected the pickup station on your delivery option, you may not be allowed to use this service.
- Payment on delivery option may not be available for you if you have past delivery issues like so many failed delivery attempts.
- When the items are delivered to you, you can pay using Jumiapay delivery, Cash or your local Mastercard, Verve Card, to pay on Jumia POS machine during delivery.
You can see information about your orders in your Jumia account. This is where you will check your open orders, cancelled orders and delivered orders.
